We utilize the field 'exin' in Domain tcexin to store extra information about items/tooling.

We need to increase the length of this field size from 8 characters to 12 characters in order to accommodate a recent engineering change- the field is used almost exclusively in tirou102.exin


What is the correct process to increase a field length within tcexin domain?

it also escapes me why the field exin (extra info) has only 8 characters. it's almost unusable to me so i created another field in the table. i don't recommend changing the length of the domain tcexin because this is more work than you want to do, rather, in rou102 you can change the domain to tcmcs.str12 (for example). there are other options like cdf but it depends on you.
