Is there a string translate function (three arguments)
argument 1 string to be translated
argument 2 characters to be searched for
argument 3 characters to be used to replace

with argument 2, and argument 3, the sequences of original and substitution should be corresponding.

Alternatively, a two string argument
argument 1 string to be translated
argument 2 pairs of characters, first is the source character, second is the substitute.

I do not have a programmers guide and I would like to do this in the Baan script or the programmers guide.

Wierd, my previous baanboard request was in 1995. Wow.

LN FP7 has some new functions for string manipulation. str.replace$() supports your alternative, however you need 3 arguments: source string, search character, replacement character.
For Baan5 you have to write something that loops through a string and replaces characters where needed.

We are on 4c3 version of Baan. Unfortunately I will have to roll my own. I appreciate your feedback and at the same time, say hello from Montreal Canada

Same for baan 4 and I would think 3 also. I have had to write several routines to find and replace characters.
