Hi all,

there is already a thread: "How to print 2D-Barcode (Data Matrix Code)"

In that thread, ZPL-Code is the solution.

But I would like to print Data Matrix Code from Baan to a normal HPLaserJet on a Unix system. So ZPL is not possible.

Does anybody have experiences with that?

Hello,

for barcode in PCL you have to extend the charactersets with BARDIMMS or
ELP (enhanced laser printing) Software.
(See www.stethos.com)

2D-Barcode DataMatrix ECC200 is typeset 24820T, PDF417 is typeset 24850T
(PCL font escape sequence)

So if I am on Unix and don't want to install additional software, there are memory modules with the barcodes for the printer?
Both of your links offer, among other things, such a module, if I'm right.

If I have installed such a memory module, is possible to create a barcode-file for Baan and use it just like a normal code 39 from a Baan report?

Hello Richard,
if you have the BarDimm Module installed, create a Barcodescript in $BSE/lib/barcode/hp for Datamatrix.

I've done it, "type12" is my Datamatrix ECC200 barcodescript.

Barcode DataMatrix ECC200 is 24820T

In reportfield assign the barcodetype to the field.

That's all.

I just checked the current module of our laserprinter. It seems not to support any 2D barcode.

So for the moment I will stop gathering information, because there is right now no possiblilty to get new hardware.

Therefor i prefer the ELP software solution, this software enables all 1D

In fact we don't have original HP-printers. HP is replaced bei Ricoh some years now. Maybe that is the reason, that the printout of the printerfonts contain no DataMatrix code? Or can it be, that 2D-Barcodes aren't included with that "normal printout of all fonts the printer knows"?
