Dear All Baaners/LNers,
I need some help about the settings for the MS reporting service on the LNFP7.
I put this string on the studio:
host=NAUSVELN1;bse=c:\infor\erpln;bshell=bshell;protocol=rexec
but the studio said that
"Unable to connect to data source 'DataSource1'.Unable to create connection to backend"
i've tried to change the host and the protocol too but it doesn't help.
can you suggest me about the correct string?
Thank You,
Roy

Connection string looks good. 2 things to check:
1. Credentials
2. Can you ping to that machine nausveln1 (this seems to be an internal Infor server, are you on the Infor network?)

Hello JaapJD,
i already input the credentials and using the localhost rather than the hostname..doesn't work either...
do i need to start the BOD services also for this?
Thanks,
Roy

If you can access the ERP LN backend with Worktop (BW), use the same values you have in the BW configuration for host, bse, bshell and protocol. If you are using WebUI, you need to use the values in the backend configuration on the web server and your profile.
BOD services are not needed for the MS reporting in LN.

Hi,
Just tried it again today, it seems the problem lies within the domain of the server itself(my mistake).
i changed it to IP add and it worked.
but...there's some warning again when i tried to run the query builder:
TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
------------------------------
Exception during BDE call
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
ResourceException during doBdeCall (Infor.ReportingServices.LNDataExtension)
------------------------------
Server.DispatcherPanic: No license to use the Adapter for ERP LN (No more licenses available for this product); cannot use the Business Data Entity Repository at runtime. (Infor.ReportingServices.LNDataExtension)
------------------------------
BUTTONS:
OK
------------------------------
any suggestion? i think i already input all the license to use this feature....maybe i missed something.
Thanks,
Roy

You need product ID 7056 (see also solution 22876519, although this solution does not say anything about MS Reporting, it contains a solution for the message you got from the Adapter for ERP LN). This solution states that you can obtain this product ID without additional costs.
The short term workaround may be to enter the report code directly in the query text, so without using the Query Builder.

Hi,
I already validate the 7056 and the 7046 product ID on the machine, but the error still the same, i've tried with the query text but there's more error:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Report Designer
------------------------------
An error occurred while the query design method was being saved. Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: s
------------------------------
BUTTONS:
OK
------------------------------
BTW, sorry i forgot to mention that this is the LN vm for partners that we got from INFOR....lot of strange things on this vm though...
Thanks,
Roy

Hello,
i get the problem, we put the wrong slmid for the 7056 at the server, that's why it won't work.
Thanks,
Roy
