Hi,
it is possible display drawing in autocad format (DWG or DXF extension) using external viewer like Autodesk View from the session
tiitm0101m000 Maintain Item Data using the DRAWING button.
If it is possible how can I set Baan to do this ?

Note: Baan IV c4 is installed on Nt server.

You can build your own program using - app_start() (http://www.baanboard.com/programmers_manual_baanerp_help_functions_client_file_access_app_start)

or you might check out -

http://www.nazdaq.co.il/ and or contact Bader (http://www.baanboard.com/baanboard/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=574) on the Board here.

The NAZDAQ solution is real nice. We also have a similar product but with some differences. Click here (http://www.rmcis.com/drawings.html) for a link to our product description, or contact us for a demo. As stated, Bader's is great, we focus on different things. We focus on printing, but the drawing also appears in Maintain Item Data.

i guess, its easier. Why buying some external application?
just go to http://www.support.baan.com and have a look into solution 14588. The only need to add in tiedm0100 your autocad.exe as the application, which should be used for display.

have fun

Whether you build your own solution through app_start() or use Baan Hot Link from NAZDAQ, you do not have to install AutoCAD on your client in order to view AutoCAD files.

You can install an AutoDesk product called "Volo View Express" - I think it is free. This product can be installed at any client that wishes to view AutoCAD files but does not necessarly want to maintain these files. Check www.autodesk.com under "Products" for more information about it.

just to note Volo View Express is currently free but they intend to start charging for the next version that will support new versions of the dwg format. also don't install it on a citrix server as it plays hell with it

Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to view some drawing in PDF and some in CAD. All the drawings are displayed via a include in edm module. So if you change the include or call a DLL it should work fine. I create dmy own darwing parameter table- Application by file extension.

OpenCad Alliance provides a free DWG viewer and ActiveX component that seems to be very similar to voloview, see http://www.opendesign.com/downloads/guest.htm
