Hi All
We are working with BaaN IV C4 & now implementing barcode on real time interface. We are having certain queries that how barcode can be link up with baan. How data can be populated in baan standard form.
Your valuable comments / documentation will definately gives us a direction.

DDC is one option.
Another option is to write a code in VB, wherein it reads the ASCII file generated by the scanner, and eventually populates the various fields of the activated BaaN session.
Some vendors might also offer to write this code in the Portable Terminal (kind of a scanner, which scans as well as has the logic of passing the scanned data further), and leave VB aside. But, the kind of controls you have in VB are much more than in the PT.
Good Luck.

Hi Morpheus,
Can VB to BaaN & PT features real time mode? Please give more info. on Distributed Data Collection (DDC).
I'm interested to know your feedback on the length (in our case, we have 40 days) and complexity (pain) of the implementation. Whether to go for liner or 2D.
Thanks in advance.

Suhas,
The place where we implemented this solution, follows batch processing. For more info on DDC, you can search the forum for DDC/API, and you will get some good threads like -
One (http://www.baanboard.com/baanboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6582)
Two (http://www.baanboard.com/baanboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7426&highlight=ddc)
Three (http://www.baanboard.com/baanboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5645&highlight=ddc)
Using linear or 2D barcode depends on how much information you want in it.
