We are still in Oracle 7.3.4 for all BaanIV, should we upgrade to 8i or 9i? Has anyone upgraded successfully from 7 to 9i? Thanks

we are currently converting from 7.3.4 to 9i
On our test box all runs fine. Performance gain seems huge (but i must say the new machine is more powerfull as well)

Oracle 9i (and 8i) for that matter have a lot of overhead.
For best results you usually want to upgrade your hardware at the same time as the DB.

Hi PV Ramone,

Which Baan Oracle driver used with 9i? Also Is there any special procedures to make it work other than 8i installation?

Please inform.

thanks,Eric.

- we use the oracle8 binary from portingset 6.1c.06.06
- nothing special compared to oracle8
