Hi,
I have BaaN IV C4, SQL server7, NT on Machine A.
I loaded Baan fat client on another machine B.
I mainted the system, remote users entries in BaaN on A.
I removed ubaan entry on m/c B and rbaan file contents looks OK.
Now when I login from B I am getting message "Index 5980 out of dims [1] 90"
"Cannot continue in ottstpstdlib ()"
What to do now? Where it might have gone wrong?

What do you mean with fat client? I assume not FAT like File Allocation Table, but do you mean a complete installation of the $BSE like on the server A? Or do you mean a BW-installation like on a work station?
I assume you are talking about something like this:
Machine A
$BSE=d:\baan
complete installation with RDBMS, $BSE/application etc.
Machine B
$BSE=e:\baan
(not a complete installation???)
local users here are remote users on Machine A
local users here will get removed so only remain remote users on A
Can you tell more about the error? What loggings do you see in the eventviewer? Can you tell how your licenses are set up? Only license services on machine A?
Why would you set it up like you do? What is the need for Machine B?

Fat client is what you select as option 2 (Application+Logic) while installing BaaN.
I was trying this for testing purpose only.
After I corrected the tabledf file in fat client system(sytem B) as *.*,<remote_server-name>
The error is now "Error 505 No server is specified in tabledef6.1...."
Anyone tried this combination?

Copy \lib\dtopt* files from the server.
Here is two topics from PS.6.1c.xx Release notes.
Are you use BSE_REM?
MergeProject: BaanIVc: # 7851 (VHNT2960): Fat client install keeps uuser files on system
Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2000 13:56:59 +0100 (MET)
Release: BaanIVc Date: 2000/01/28
Script: MergeProject
Project: VHNT2960
Created on: Corelli
Type: bugfix
Problem:
Problem Description (Customer terms)
When a fat client is installed, the $BSE\lib\user\u<user> files are installed as well.
This could cause trouble, since the Bshell will retrieve the user information from the
local system, iso from the Application Server.
Problem Description (Technical terms)
The bshell will read the local user files, instead of the files on the
remote server. This could cause configuration conflicts.
Workaround
Remove the user file manual.
Test Procedure
Install a Fat client and observe the user files for users baan, demo, bsp and root
are no longer there!

-----------
Problem Description (Customer terms)
------------------------------------
When installing Baan in fat client mode, a customer gets the following error:
Index out of dims 5980 - can't log into Baan.
This is due to the fact that the lib\dtopt files on the fat client do not match
the dtopt files on the application server.
Problem Description (Technical terms)
-------------------------------------
The dtopt files are residend in data0x.z and bshell.z on the installation CD.
The bshell.z archive contains invalid dtopt files, the data0x.z contains the
correct onses.
The fat client installs all files from bshell.z whereas the full install
installs all datax.z files (with the correct dtopt files!!).
Workaround
----------
Copy the lib\dtopt files from the database server to the fat client.
Solution
--------
copytss.bat:
Added copying of dtopt files from the running environment to the bshell.z archive.

u<user> file was already removed. Still error 505 is coming.
I have rbaan only on fatclient m/c
I have copied dtopt files. Anyway index out of dims error was not coming after I modified tabledef file. So not much change in the error status for 505 error
