Baan installation takes a long time, especially when there are a lot of SPs to be installed.
And as you know, the Baan system is quite seperate, in its seperate BSE enviroment.
Supposing now old environment is:
OS: NT4.0oEnglish+sp6a
Baan: BaanIvc4+sp8
DB: MS SQL 7.0

So could we do as follows:
1.Copy (1)the whole BSE (2)DB: baandb.ldf and baandb.mdf from current computer to another Computer which has the same OS and DB environment but with different computer name and IP
2.When we try to enter the new copied Baan system via bw, the loging interface shows the old License information, then later give error messages about db.

So what should I do after physical copy to make the new Baan alive?:) :(

Did you tested that access to the DB was working before trying to conect thru Baan?

you have to re-license the baan software for the new box, not sure what else you have to do. see the attached. I am looking at doing the same soon.

In this way you can copy the Baan installation between different databases and O/S.

1. Install database + Baan on the "new" server.

2. Copy $BSE/application, $BSE/dict and $BSE/tools folders from the "old" server to the "new" server.

3. Copy all $BSE/lib/fd* files from the "old" server to the "new" one.

4. Export company 000 and all others companies using create dump session.

5. Import the companies using bdbpost.
