Hello, sorry for this question but i am having difficulty finding an answer and thought i would check here. I am an oracle dba( with zero baan experience) and have recently started to support a client running baan 6.1 /oracle 10g on hp-ux - client has no internal baan support and would like to migrate from hp-ux -> linux. client believes the baan software can be copied from hp-ux to linux (essentially /opt/baan) - i cannot believe this will work but i have no idea. assuming this is not possible, i would need to install the linux source, do i need a running db before i install baan? i have already cloned the db from hp -> linux.

sorry for the ignorant question, i have searched the threads here with little luck. i greatly appreciate any feedback.
thanks

Infor releases porting sets so the same ERP software (ex. ERP-LN) can run on different operating systems (AIX Unix, HP Unix, Windows, etc) and databases (Oracle, MS-SQL, etc).

Running on Linux would require a different porting set. See Infor KB ID 22923520.

The baan application software that is typically stored within $BSE/application can be copied because these "programs" use an abstraction layer and are machine/os independent.

The baan programs (you mention /opt/baan) cannot be copied from HP-UX to Linux. You have to install these components from Baan.
