Gentlemen,

Is there anyone out there who can tell me what files I have to do change when renaming a Baan IVc4 server.

Configuration

- NT4.0 server
- Oracle 7.3.4
- Baan IVc4

regards,

Pasadena

Which is in my opinion why you should always refer to a server by IP address.
Of course when you do, you know that sooner or later they will hang your box on a different segment and you're up that creek again.

On NT you can fairly easy do a find on all files containing your server's name in the Baan file system. That should cover your question.

Now one non-sticky bit of information is wether or not renaming your server would require you to re-license the box. I am enclined to say no, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

On BaanIV/ERP the only file that matter is $BSE/lib/licence6.x : this has the hostname or IP adress of the server, so you can use one or the other.
Look for this file in NT, if it's not found, then probably the entry is in the registry, probably under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Baan...

A change of server name or IP adress does not need a relicencing (only if the root disk fails or there's a change of the motherboard-UNIX or network card-NT).
