I am using Win NT & SQL Server 7.0 with Baan IVc4, in4, SP7, porting set 6.1c.06.02.

I have created a BACKUP job for taking seq. dump of all co. at night with Periodical as ticked, period 1 day, status as FREE.

Before leaving for the day I have to start the session ACTIVATE JOB and click on CONTINUE, then the status changes to WAITING..

Early morning the JOB COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY comes.

My question is in this whole process ONE Baan license is used by this activity.

CAN IT BE AVOIDED and ONE LICENSE FREED...?

NO, a job user counts as a Baan user, so uses one license.

If you want to create sequential dump of tables, you can use bdbpre program and Windows Task Scheduler. bdbpre.exe does not use license, I think.

Any process that spawns a bshell uses a license. If a process uses ipc_boot to launch a Baan DB driver, fs6.1 process, etc. without a bshell, no license is used.

hi
in order to use a license only during the process, try to create a scheduler batch in winnt that run the baan job.
Using this, a license is not occupied while the job is "waiting".

If you have a problem with your licenses numbers you could look at using the close idle product.

Do a search on the board for previous threads relating to "close idle".
