seem it is possible to move the baan application together with sql to another server with different name w/o reinstallation.

Anyone know the steps to move the Baan Appl with SQL to another server w/o reinstall

The basic steps are:

a) Install a fat client on the new server to get the registry settings and service configuration of Baan

b) Copy the old installation to the new server

c) Adopt configuration

The tricky part is step (c) obviously and depends on your old configuration, database used, licensing setup etc.

I suggest you give it a try and the community here tries to help you with whatever problem you run into.

I've installed/upgraded several clients (both Baan IV and Baan V) to SQL 2005. You will need to check your portingset level technical notes, but as long as it's current within a year or two, you should be fine.

Hi,

Try Hiren's Boot Cd along with Acronis universal snap deployer.
it will seem like copy - paste.

I have tried with Lenovo desktop(A) to Acer Laptop(B).

Note : You need to give the appropriate Drivers(like Raid,SAS,SAN,etc..whatever) to Acronis snap deplyer for (B)

All the best,
