There is a self contained Documentation Portal CD with the installation media. Refer to the installation guides.

I have created one document about the LN installation in detail, each step instruction and the sceen shot.
Unfortunitely, it is in Chinese. If you wan to use the document to guide you to install (LN FP3 + Win2003 + SQL2005), I can translate the Chinese into English version for you refer.

In terms of your 2nd question, I've installed several LN FP5 servers with win2003 server (fully updated) and SQL2005. I'm planning to migrate them to SQL2008 when I get the chance.

I did come across some issues with the batch installer and SLM. Get SLM working and tested before doing anything else.
