Hello all,

Is there a way to install a bw client on Windows CE ?

I've tried to install 0.93 bw on a Intermec CK31, but it says it's not a valid Win CE application.

Does it exists a special build ?

tia for your answer,

Olivier

Hi,

Please find the link below - i have tested even on Linux , it worked.

Let me try in Windows CE , meanwhile you can try the same.

Hello Sushil,

thx for your reply.

On all tests, I always get message "not a valid Win CE application."

I can try a ThinInstall, (or AutoIt), but i'm afraid it will not change bw executable

After looking at Infor KB, sol 13743 :
**************************************************
SOLUTION DESCRIPTION:
BW is supported on Windows XP, Windows2003, and Windows Vista.
Vista support is only given with UAC enabled
(Windows CE is not supported)
**************************************************

seems there's no way at the moment....

Olivier

Edit : I've build a ThinApp. Works fine on Win XP / Vista. Still same message on Win CE.

Hi,

You were right - BW does not work in CE (not even Portable version).
but , their is an alternative.

You can use RDP in Windows CE 5.0 to connect to baan from Terminal Server.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312102

Note : In case if you need to make a Terminal Server - you can try trial version for 180 days and then reset the trial in 2 min.

The best part is - How to reset Trial is available at below MS link.

hello,

thanks for info.

I haven't time right now to test it, but as we already use Terminal Server, i will try asap

will post result then.

Olivier

edit :

Works with RDP.

CK31 screen resolution is low (don't remember exact values), so it's not easy to use standard sessions.

With another terminal and some customized sessions, i think it's a way to have a mobile BaaN for warehouse or workshop.

Thanks Sushil for your help

There are other options also. Besides RDP you can use VNC on both Windows and Unix/Linux. Webtop is another option with the proper browser loaded on you CE device. I have used a Windows Mobile device for years for off hours support when I am away from a computer.
