Hi all,

I have a question regarding barcode printing.

A customer is currently printing bar code reports successfully to an HP printer. She is trying to set up a Xerox N40 Docuprint printer for printing barcode reports. She has installed the fonts on the printer. She is trying to print the same report that prints fine on the HP printer. I have edited the driver but still no barcode report will print. Can anyone give me any ideas? Thanks!

Is anything coming out on the printer at all?

If everything is coming out except the barcode, I would check the physical printer configuration and make sure it is set to emulate HP/PCL.

Thank you for the quick response.

The PCL Emulation version is PCL5E-XL 19971007

On the PCL Menu, the font # is 0. Should it be the font # of the barcode font?

Can't speak to the font# being 0.

Another thing to do, is to print a configuration page from the HP printer where barcoding is printing correctly.

Check to see if it indicates whether or not barcoding is supported natively or if you had to add anything to the base printer.

I know on one HP printer we have, we had to add a
"HP Bar Codes & More" font cartridge before barcoding would work.

There is on http://www.atbas.org/barkix/index.php
a program under Unix which will generate code39 barcodes
in plain PCL (no fontcatridge needed)

Used it with Baan without any problems.
Requires only some minor/simple adjustment in the reportlayout.
