hello,

what is the difference between ba6.2and bshell6.2 ?
where can I find a technical documentation on ba6.2 ?
and finally, have you ever used the variables BAMODE and
BAAN_EXTJOB ?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,

ba6.2: This is the Baan ASCII Client Program. It is a binary executable that is platform dependent. Thats is, for each type of Operating System, Baan release a seperate version (Porting Set) of this program.

bshell6.2: This is the Baan Shell Interface. This program communicates with ba6.2 and the database drivers - and hence the interface for providing all Baan information to your client program ba6.2.

There's not much technical information around - limited info in the Triton Technical Manuals.

I've used BAMODE - when using Job Daemons. Cannot remember using BAAN_EXTJOB.

In BaanERP there is no ASCII GUI, so the functionlity of ba6.2 is very limited - you can run it to run sessions without forms (like the one used for the jobdaemons startup, etc.) or to access some, still on their ASCII form, sessions.
I presume that allows you to access directly ttaad4100 and some other sessions that are still build only in ASCII mode, but nothing else.

No clue on the BAAN_EXTJOB environment variable. I have not used it before (but am always interested in obscure points of Baan trivia).
