Hello everyone !

Our Baan IVc4 application running on SunSparc system with solaris 5.8 and Oracle 8i database.

Now I want setup new standby server on Intel based plateform , windows 2000 or windowx xp with oracle9i and same Baan IVc4 applications with all patches. Can any one help me how I can configure the server and this setup. What I needed in order and how should I accomplish this task. After server setup will OK I want to import data from production live server to newly configured standby server.

Can any one give me step by step guidance or any writeup / notes to build server from scratch ?

With Thanks !

Prashant,
Why choose an Intel/Microsoft based standy platform for your SunSparc/Solaris system? Why not choose the same platform for your standby? Wouldnt that be smoother to administrate and to switch over when needed?

you'll have tons of problems because baan stores just about everything in flat files. so when you copy stuff from solaris to windows it'll all have ^Ms which may corrupt the file.

If you need Intel/AMD do RedHat/SuSE then you can just

scp -rp $BSE <linuxbox>:/path/to/bse

update your tabledef.

Done.

Thanks to you all Dharam, Sukesh and Dave for your response and guidance !

Yes , I have a setup guide but it is for Unix version.

Second thing I don't have another Sparc machine. I have solaris version for Intel but I don't have Oracle version for Intel - Solaris setup. Yes I can go for Suse Linux where Oracle version is also available for it.

I will update this thread whenever I will go through this process.

Thank you very much !
