Hi all,

We needed to enable SCM for our Windows environment but from the posts here I have come to know that SCM will work only for an Unix environment.

Could you please suggest what can be done on a Windows environment to achieve the same ?

Thanks 'n' Regards,

Dear All,

Could someone working in a Windows environment please share how do you currently ensure that you have a backup of previously changed components, eg : Report components, Forms etc so that in case of neccessity you can revert to the previous version.

Currently I take dumps and store them in a separate backup location. Would like to know is there any other better way.

Awaiting your suggestions !

Why dont you try using the session Export Data Dictionary {ttiex1280m000} to export or backup your components..?

Hi Sukesh,

Thanks for your reply. By dumps I meant this session only. Appears this is the only way out currently.

Compared to other approaches, this is the best (efficient) way to backup or move your components.

Will not help during the development process but if you want to use scm only to be able to restore your previous version why not use pmc to deliver your components?
With pmc you will be able to restore the previous version on the environment where the new software will be installed.

Besides PMC you can use the Customization Administration session under Application Development. This transfers to Patch management, and then you can create a patch and store it. (Patch Management is not PMC). You can use this twice, once to save the original components to a backup file, once to dump your customizations.

I have a working version of CVS on Baan IV on Windows. I am in the process of bringing it forward to LN and adding Subversion support. I am at least 6 months away for an public offering.
