Hi Ka,

This might be an easy or a very tough problem. Let's see:

can you enter other chines characters?
What is the characterset of your database?
Is your Baan installation a multi byte installation?
Which windows version are you using?
Does it have the chinese characters installed?
What is the NLS setting in your Baan GUI?

Regards

Markus

In principle your setup look ok, which is also proven by the fact, that you can enter some, but not all characters.

The chines installations I worked with, das all the GB something characterset in the database and also the GB (simplified chinese) setting in the bw GUI. But I am no chinese expert to tell you the difference to the traditional chinese settings.

Anyway the hint about the tss files could be correct. You talk about tss_bw even though your profile states, that you have a solaris server? Or are you talking about the client settings?

Then you might as well take another look at the tss files in $BSE/lib. There are Baan sessions to manipulte these, but there are nowhere in the menu. If you print all tools sessions on display, you will easily find them "tttss...."

Below is part of the TSS_BW in the C:\BaaN\Lib ( client )

Set(14, "BIG5", "Traditional Chinese (Big-5), CodePage 950")
{
# 01-7f: ASCII
(
range 0x1-0x7f
store 0x0
bytes 1
setno 1
)
# 95f5-f9fe -> 9b2795f5-9b27f9fe
(
range 0x95f5-0xf9fe
store 0x270000
bytes 2
setno 2
)
}

below is $BSE\lib\ tss* ( Solaris Server )

drwxr-xr-x 2 bsp bsp 512 1999 8攫 24 tss.old
-rwxrwx--- 1 bsp bsp 29110 11攫 1 14:02 tss6.1
-rwxrwx--- 1 bsp bsp 12865 1999 8攫 24 tss_c6.1
-rwxrwx--- 1 bsp bsp 3075 1999 8攫 24 tss_locale6.1
-rwxrwx--- 1 bsp bsp 2 1999 8攫 24 tss_mbstore6.1

Which file is related to the characterset setup ?

I took a look at tss6.1. below is part of file.

Set(1, "BIG5", "Traditional Chinese (BI
{
# ASCII
(
range 0x1-0x7f
store 0x0
bytes 1
setno 1
)
# big5
(
range 0x8e40-0xa0e6
store 0x270000
bytes 2
setno 2
)
# big5
(
range 0x95f5-0xf9d6
store 0x270000
bytes 2
setno 2
)

Are there any wrong in these files ?
What can I do anything for this problem ?

Thanks a lot !

Kevin :(

In regards to the files:

the tss.old is a copy of some file and can be deleted.
the tss_mbstore configures, that you are a multi-byte instalation
the rest have all got to do with the chacacter set configuration.

Unfortunately I have no detail info about these files. Maybe somebody else on the board has?

What does SSA support say to your issue?

It is frustrating , Nobody encounters the smiliar problem like me.
Maybe, it is very difficult .

Now, I pray for God help.

If you are a member in Baan, you should be able to give me some hint.

I will appreciate that .

Thank

If no help, maybe I should change the ERP system.

Recently, I have also facing a problem with input and display Traditional Chinese Character on linux environment but not for Baan application. In my environment, I also can input and display most of the big5 character but some of them not. e.g. 功 . It will become "\" or "%\".

Finally, I should skip those character with alternate word with similar meaning or change the codepage to utf-8 to get through the problem.

Didn't know the Baan can support utf-8 codepage or not?
Hope somebody can answer your question.

Only at Ln 6.1 FP2, Baan system comes to support UTF on AIX+Oracle platform. Kevin Liu's problems seems related to TSS code range. Every big5 customer has encountered such inputting problmems before and can manage to fix it with extending the TSS code range. Suggest Kevin to call SSA support to fix the problem.

Could you give me some examples of these BIG5 Chinese characters? In Chinese characters please, not Hex code.
I would like to verify with some customers whether this problem also exist on their server.

I have tested on a customer's server today. It seems there is ok to input the characters you gave, see attachment.
Are you trying to input GB characters on BIG5 server? In that case, you will hit such problem.
