Wow, that's a lot -

One place to start is with the standard documentation. Running the Baan IV GUI right? Try:

- Highlight the main menu
- Under 'Help' choose 'Find Help On'
- You should get a screen that says 'Press the content button or 'Z'...', do that.
You should have the system help up.

The Programmers information will give you a lot of technical information to get you programming.

Application Configuration will tell you about VRC structures and package combinations.

The Application Customization part should help you get started if you want to copy standard sessions and modify.

Also, if you don't have the help loaded or have access to Baan, you can view the Programmers Guide (Baan V based, but similar for most versions) online here at the Baan Board Wiki:

Link to WIKI (http://www.baanboard.com/twiki/bin/view/Progmanerp/ErpProgMan_Start)

Good luck

It may be helpful to you to think of Package Combination and VRCs similar to the relationship between Microsoft Office and MS-Word, MS-Excel, etc.

For example
a Package Combination (B61Ua) = Microsoft Office (MSO v.2.0)
is made up of
Packages at a given release (i.e., VRC) level (Package + VRC = PVRC)
tc VRC 1.1a = MS Excel (v1.1a)
td VRC 2.2b = MS Word (v2.2b)
tp VRC 3.3c = MS Project (v3.3c)

You could have another Package Combination using the same Baan packages but different versions. Say you want to keep using the "old" version of the tc package / MS-Excel, but use the newest versions of everything else.
Package Combination (B61Ub) = Microsoft Office (MSO v.2.1)
is made up of
tc VRC 1.1a = MS Excel (v1.1a)
td VRC 2.5 = MS Word (v2.5)
tp VRC 3.5 = MS Project (v3.5)

A package combination is tied to a Company and a user as a means of informing Baan what release level (i.e., what code base) that company or that user is to be using.

Hope this helps.

There are quite a few threads on Tools Administration & Installation explaining VRC, package combination, Data Dictionary objects, portingset (and others) - search it for these topics and read them to get you started.
Since these make the Baan structure and you need to also know how to manage Baan as Baan Sys. Admin., I suggest to read all the manuals and help files and do get some training on the (tt) Tools (Administration) module.
