Good Day!
I have created a new Package combination for our development company(company 900) and the Package VRCs are derived from the live VRCs(company 100). Now, in 'Maintain user data' session when I attach a package combination to a user, system doesn't distinguish between the two companies. I could attach company 100 or company 900 to any of the two package combinations. I have done convert to runtime, restarted our server a number of times etc.
Thanks,
srikarthy

Hello,
AFAIK when you have two Packages combination one derived from the other, you can switch user from company until there are no differences in domain and tables. If you create/modifiy a table or domain in the dev package combination then you should not be allowed to change from company.

Yes, it is like Phillipe says.
But does anybody know, how Baan figure that out so fast? It is certainly not comparing the 2000 tables, the moment you try to switch between two companies? Is this difference between PKG somewhere stored in a tools table?
Just curiois,
Markus

Hello,
I see only two tables that can be read : ttadv400 (domains) and ttadv420 (tables), there is a key per package version release customer. But it is possible that another table contains a flag

I remember having seen a function in a tools library that returns whether the packge combinations in argument are different or same.
I guess it checks all the dictionary files in the package combination directories and comes up with argument whether the package combination are same or different . Dont know it may be storing it somewhere .

Hello Everybody,
Thank you all very much for your feedback. Now I feel confident to do my experiments in the development company without corrupting the live company.
