Good Day!

Our Baan environment has two Database Definitions 001(for parameter tables with audit on) and 002(All other tables with audit off) in session ttaad4110m000. As per the set-up, all the companies are connected to these two database definitions. Now we are in the process of creating a new company which is for archiving the transactions from our live company.
I am not sure whether I must create new database definitions for the archive company, say 003 and 004 and link in session 'Assign tables to databases(ttaad4111m000) for better performance of Baan. When I contacted our Informix Administrator, he doesn't know about the database definitions in Baan but says as far as informix is concerned it is one database e.g. ol_server1. I don't know much about Administration. Can someone tell me defining new database definitions will increase the speed of Baan or not. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

First thingh new database creation is not mandtory for archiving. You can create new company in same database.
For performance issuse :

if you will create new database on running database machine it will give almost same performance. If you will create database on another machine it may increase you server performance.

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for the update. I'll create the company in the same database.

From backup & restore perspective, you may consider to separate archive DB.
