Hmmm

I have noticed that in several companies that have been running Baan 5 since early versions of 5.0a/b, the dbsinit parameter has been set to 035. Since this parameter is not well documented in the database driver technical reference manual and the general recommendation has been to use 021, does anyone know why certain Baan consultants recommended 035?

Generally, this follows the index options from ora_storage, but this does not have an exact correspondence to anything that makes sense there.

In BaanIV multibyt version it was necessary to set dbsinit to 035, otherwise you won't get the right characters in Chinese for expample. If you don't use multibyte don't use dbsinit 035

I wonder why it would be set for a US only installation then...

Alas, the wonder and mystery of Baan administration.
