Hi Jack,

the Baan application is written to be OS and database independent. So you can take the whole Baan environment and put it on an other server with a different OS and it runs.

The only part that must be exchanged is the portingset. This contains the OS and database dependend programs.

The portingset is changed if it is needed because of an error or to stay on the current OS and database versions.

So far,

Garfield ;)

A good compairaison is the java runtime environment (jre): you need this java specifically for your platform and then you can run any java program unchanged.
Same applies to Baan, the portiungset is like the jre and the application layer the java applications.

Try to run session ttaad0500m000 (the version scan tool) and it will give you all the information you need.

best regards,

Murphy.
