In Our Baan 4C environments we have a session 'tttxt116m000' Maintain Text Groups with external text editor' which allows you to use a text editor other than Baan's. eg. Notepad.

This session does not exist in our Baan 4b environments.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to use Notepad as the default text editor in 4b?

Thanks Mick

And it is, unfortunately, hardcoded to use Notepad! Should have made this changeable!

Hi Mick

As OmeLuuk pointed out, this was only added in 4c. You might want to check whether the DLL ottdllbw exists on the 4b environment. If it does, it might be possible to write a custom session to edit texts with something like Notepad.

OmeLuuk, your suggestion does not always work. In W2K (and presumably XP) it is quite a lot harder to change Notepad to something else. Try it your way, and you will see that the "old" Notepad is re-instated! Also, the reason for wanting it in a parameter, is that you do not always want to replace Notepad with gvim. Notepad has it's usefullness on a Windows system, and, with your solution, you throw that away! Better would be to be able to specify gvim or another program in Baan!

Thanks very much both of you.
I'll check out your DLL suggestion.

Cheers - Mick :)
