I am trying to load BaanERP5.0c Mastertape on HP UX 10.20. Database already up and running. Oracle8.0.6 is the database. Extracted the tape successfully. Ran install6.2 too.
When the screen comes in which we feed the sysdba username/passwd, it fails saying

ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
Invalid option.
Usage: CONNECT <username> [AS SYSDBA | SYSOPER]
Invalid option.
Usage: CONNECT <username> [AS SYSDBA | SYSOPER]
unable to CONNECT to ORACLE after 3 attempts, exiting SQL*Plus

Is it a known problem? Kindly help.

Make sure that you can connect with svrmgr, tnsping, or net8 to test out the listner from the baan server. If svrmgr can not connect baan will not connect.
