I don't know where i took mistakes,i really want to know what the problem is in our environment.

-->Second problem is Baan server generated not well-format XML file when selected crystal print device to push baan data into crystal report.this error occured on BaanIV

out crystal's environment are CE8.0+CR8.5+SK2 and CE8.5+CR9.0+SK2.all on NT4.0+sp6a
Baan's enviroment are BaanIVc4+sp10;BaanERP5c+sp6;all with lastest porting set.

check with Crystal support on the compatibility of the versions you are using. As far as I know SK2 does not support versions above 8.0

thank you at first. you mean enterprise solution kit for baan version 2 dose not support crystal enterprise 8.0? which version will support CE8? need i install SK2.5 for CE8 or any other patch?

SK2 does support 8.0 but does not support any version above that (8.5 for example). There are many hotfixes that should be installed as well.

BTW SK2.5 is due out early next year and will support 8.5.

Thanks evertsen,
I got it. But system still showed the error message("Worker failed to connect to Crystal Enterprise! Your user, password and/or registry setting may be corrupted") when i printed the repot using crystal print device in baan or wanted to copy the template for that device in baan session. actually, this error occured on CE8+SK2.

thanks all,
The problem of user/password has been fixed after run BnIRTConfig.exe.I let user/password of IRT matched with registry, then problem corrected.
But i noticed that the URL that need send to Internet browser(IE) did not generated correctly in BaanIV environment,i check the log files,it seems that that XML file is a Invalid XML file.(Error occured in Layout Extractor (LAExtrc) module:
Invalid XML file. MSXml.dll fails to parse F:\Seagate Software\Crystal Enterprise Solution for Baan\IBR\og_temp/b2c009325861.xml.).
BaanERP is ok.that means if i selected report to print to the same CE server,XML file is ok.URL also generated.only need i click this URL in the baan session to show the report in the IE.
So,who could instruct me what i need to do next?
Be appreciated for any helps!

The error "Invalid XML file" can be solved (in many cases) by recompiling the report. If the first line in the xml file doesn't look like <?xml version=1.0?>, then you have to recompile the Baan report. Be sure that you recompile all the reports (in all languages) linked to the Baan session.

oh,no, problem is still there.
and i noticed that BaanIVc4 even can not generate a well-format XML file.(in the argument field: i remove the "port" and "server" and only leave "XML". geneted xml file is a not well-format xml file. even can find "<?xml version=1.0?>" in the xml files.).i have updated bic_global and bic_repgen files.but ....
who can help me to solve this?

thanks.
for comparing,i generated xml and html example file.only changed option from "XML" to "HTML" in argument field.
attached are example files.

You tried to print a Tools report to xml. That's not working, because you aren't able to recompile that report, which is neccessary to get it working.

Try to recompile and print an Application report to XML.

oh,NikeNiek,
same errers exists in all packages.not only for tools packages.i have recompiled all reports.

In a previous post you said you've updated bic_global and bic_repgen files. Have you updated tools libraries ttdllobject, ttdllreporting and ttstprepdll too?

hi NikeNiek,
solution 123750 already installed in our sytem though it belongs to service pack11. we also installed solution 129900. i think all solutions regarding crystal decision have been installled. and the problem for now is why the XMl file that generated by Baan is not well-format in BaanIV. as you see,if we can fix this error, that will be ok. am i right?
thank you very much for your help!

Having installed these solution, it should be possible to generate well-formed XML.

It seems that you compile the report, but still use another (old) report object.

Check the following:
- Your device should be of type Rewrite File, and the argument field should start with keyword XML.
- Check if the correct Baan report is recompiled (or compile all reports); check whether the report object is renewed; check if that report object is used or another (use explode6.1 to verify which report object will be used).

Hi Wim,
Crystal solution can work fine with BaanIV/BaanERP now.

Are you using CE8.5 or 8.0?

hzttker
16th January 2003, 05:15
we use CE8.0 + CES2.0

Wim Kerkhoff

Ahaha....

Until just a week or two ago, CE8.5 could not be used with CES. But now you can upgrade and take advantage of the new stuff in 8.5...

Just FYI.

wow,thank you very much.
could you tell me if any other patch need to be installed if i want to use CE8.5 with CES2 or CES2.5?
thanks in advance!

Wim Kerkhoff

We never went through the upgrade process, but I'm pretty confident that you do not have to touch your Baan IV at all. You should be able to continue using your existing CRYSTAL XML print devices.

Essentially, CES2.5 is the same as CES2.0, just updated to work with the new api's in CE8.5.

CE8.5 will not work with CES2.0. (I tried everything!)
