Hi,

Does anybody have a document that explains the use of function servers in b40?
This will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Edwin

Can you specify...the API Function Servers (stpapi calls, no source needed for development ), or DDC Function Servers (generate DDC function server - source required).

They are 2 different animals. The API Function Servers are mostly written by users or consultants and are for calling standard processes without the source code. This interfaces well with the BOI's and Open World.

The DDC Function Servers run only using the DDC Functionallity inside of Baan. The code is more complex, and requires the source code for generating new function servers and modifying existing ones. These function servers are used for shop-floor processes, usually with hand held bar code scanners. Baan produces several standard DDC Function servers (Cycle Counting, Hours Accounting to name a couple). These have nothing to do with BOI's or Open World, and in fact may be replaced by Open World in the future.

Documentation exists for both..which are you referring to?

Check the tools forum for documents and discussions about the API type function servers. Here is one such document (http://www.baanboard.com/baanboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1225&highlight=stpapi). Not a whole lot of discusion about the DDC type, but I am sure there are some experts that could answer questions.

lbencic,

If you have documentation on both that would be great.

Thanks,

Edwin

Mark's link takes you to the best API Function Server (AFS) document I have seen.

The following link takes you to the Baan site to download the DDC documentation. It's all copyrighted so I am hesitant to post.

ftp://ftp.baan.com/public/ddc/documentation/

The U7124 Doc is the most updated. It is for Baan ERP, but is applicable mostly for 4c as well, especially the coding aspects.
