Hello,

We use BaaN IV Big Projects and I have a question related to using of the standard and project items.

I'll try to explain the situation with an example:

We have two active projects: Project A and Project B

We use Item A in both of them!

On the 20th of November we buy the Item A - 1 kg. * 20 000 usd and we will use it in Project A

On the 20th of December we buy (again) the Item A - 1 kg. * 25 000 usd and we will use it in Project B

Note: We have not used the Item A for Project A, yet. It's still in the warehouse.

If I buy and maintain the receipt on 20th of December in any warehouse the system will calculate the average cost price and I will issue the Item A with average privce to Project A and Project B- 22 500 usd, but I shouldn't use the average price. I should use the purchase price!

How can I avoid this inconvenience and in the same time to use the warehouses?

Thank you!

Wesselin,

if you purchase an item in TP, it does not create inventory in any warehouse, only hard committment or costs can be seen (in standard)!
Project inventory is available only since Baan ERP.

Iin order to avoid any problems with pricing use project items! No average prices, only direct purchase costs!

In Baan IV this is quite easy, since the project item is defined with very few fields.

Hello Mr. Hofmann,

This is Alper!

I want to stock the item and then to allocate it to the project.

Hi Alper,

Stock in Baan Project exists only from Baan ERP on. In Baan 4 items being booked can be seen in Monitoring, or in Finance, but sorry, not in inventory.

In ERP or LN you can work with Stock or as in Baan 4, without project stock.

Have you tried lot prices yet?. This will keep the cost of each purchase with its lot and the same item could have multiple cost based on the purchase price of the purchase order.

I haven't tried yet. The reason is that I also have to use the Location Control functionality of the system. I don't need it.
