In the BOW documentation minimum requirement for installing Baan OpenWorld Adapter 2.2 on a Baan server (and client) is Java version 1.1.8.05 (for HP server).
Has anybode experience with installing Baan OpenWorld Adapter 2.2 on a HP server with Java version 1.3.1.02. Can we experience any problems with this or will this work fine.
Same goes for installing the Baan OpenWorld Adapter on a client machine with a comparable Java version.
Any help is welcome. Thanx in advance.

Hi,
On a HP box, for server side adapter installation, you should use java1.1.8 version. you can download this from hp.com website. Please dont use the JVM from java.sun.com as it is meant for solaris. Or if you can find JVM for HP-UX on java.sun.com go ahead.
How ever, on the client side of the adapter, you can use java1.3 or even java1.4 without any isssues. again if the client side of the adapter is gonna on a unix server, then download from the respective OEM side.
for windows side of the client installation, you can use any of the Java1.X from java.sun.com. Same thing applies for server side as well.
The above expl is applicable both for OW2.1 as well as OW2.2, and also for OW3.0
Thanx,
Venkatesh.

Hi,
I forgot to mention what will happen if you install wrong version of java on HP-UX box.
as far as ow2.2 is concerned, the BCLM itself would not work, and more over for OW2.1, the adapter cannot be started on Baan server in case of wrong version of JDK.
Thanx,
Venkatesh.

Its always good practice to use the version specified in the documentation especially for the Servers. At the client side, you can install any latest version, it wont cause any problem.
