Being a technical consultant, I hardly ever get in contact with most of the Front-Office and Internet based baan products. Is there anyone who can give me some pointers to documents, links etc that can get me 'initiated' into the world of Baan E-commerce and I-Baan?

Patrick,

To your request about iBaan info, Baan is releasing on a regular basis a newsletter called "iBaan News". It include information about new developments and new iBaan compliant solutions. Here's an extract from the May 2001 – Issue 1:

-----

The New Web Enabled iBaan DEM

DEM Process Models & Diagrams for Baan IV & iBaan ERP 5 can now be web-enabled thanks to a new agreement signed between Baan and DynaFlow Modeling Solutions. Under this agreement, Baan will offer DynaFlow’s EZ-Process e-Product Suite to extend the management of DEM-based Business Models, as part of Baan's supply chain-wide E-Business focus. This adds to the iBaan product suite of web enabled applications.

This alliance not only extends the benefits of DEM for Baan IV and iBaan ERP 5 customers, but also provides all Baan Consultants with the entire catalog of Baan’s DEM Reference Models which will be web enabled and thus available on the Baan Intranet. This will greatly facilitate the demo preparation of any DEM model by removing time-consuming installations and enable the entire project team members to review and validate the model content, regardless of their location and time zones.

Features

> Navigate through Process Models (Baan DEM IV
or iBaan DEM 5) using only a standard web-browser, regardless of location, operating system or ERP software.

> Present DEM business model(s) to your customers,
your project team or your Management
without any software installation. Simply point
your browser to the web-model location (URL).

> Perform collaborative model development by
sharing data online and update your intranet-based
Process Model more easily.

> Add several web & network links to your DEM
process and activities, enabling any document/
URL/content of any format to be attached to your
business processes.

> Access company wide documentation in a context
sensitive way, reducing significantly the
effort of end-users to find the right information.

> Invoke from any Process Activities various applications and scripts (FTP, mailto, dynamic web-pages, non-Baan applications, Web-Forms, etc.).

> Seamless integration with existing Document
Management Systems.

> Copy & paste and Email process diagrams within
seconds.

> Merge seamlessly iBaan DEM, SAP-Aris Toolset,
Visio, … diagrams into one unified framework.

> Through the ‘Web-Feedback’ feature, any consumer (Intranet & Extranet users) is able to send
a comment or question to the process diagram
‘owner’ thereby starting a true collaboration
exchange (even by not having access to iBaan
ERP or iBaan DEM) …

> Zero client-based application or plug-in to install
or to maintain - saving implementation time

Pierre,

Thanks for the extract. Is there anyway I could sign up for the newsletter?
