does anybody have experiences with BaaN Open World in connection with BaaN IVc4 ?
Is there something to take special care of when starting to implement BaaN Open World ?
Handling, costs - benefits ?

I've implemented OpenWorld 2.2 (HP-UX), 2.1/2.4 (AIX) and 2.5 (Win2k + HPUX) on Baan IVc4. All were fairly straight forward. There are some min. requirements like porting set, JDK version, and tools patches.

What do you plan to do? Do you plan to use the Domain packs and integrate to standard Baan using the standard BOI's? Have you customized Baan, and want to develop your own BOI's?

Which components of OW are you planning on using?

Well at present I do not have any experience in BaaN Open World. So I'm not quite familiar with the terms you are using.
Sure we do have customizations which hopefully we can somehow also bring into this task.

The main topics for this tool is a connection of BaaN to an E-shop, to a CRM software and to a storage management tool.

We would like to use it on BaaN IVc4, Oracle 8 and Windows 2000 servers.

Let me shed some light on the OpenWorld components. The following are brief descriptions of the OW components from the OWX 2004 1st edition install CD.

SSA OpenWorldX Adapters
OpenWorldX Adapters are used to connect to a specific Baan platform, and to enable it for integration.
· Adapter 2.5 for Baan IVc
This product enables the Baan IVc software to communicate with external applications using SSA OpenWorldX. Baan IVc can be used both as a 'server' and as a 'client'.
· Adapter 2.5 for ERP 5.0b
This product enables the Baan ERP 5.0b software to communicate with external applications using SSA OpenWorldX. Baan ERP 5.0b can be used both as a 'server' and as a 'client'.
· Adapter 2.5 for ERP 5.0c
This product enables the Baan ERP 5.0c software to communicate with external applications using SSA OpenWorldX. Baan ERP 5.0c can be used both as a 'server' and as a 'client'.
· Adapter 2.5 for ERP 5.2a
This product enables the Baan ERP 5.2a software to communicate with external applications using SSA OpenWorldX. Baan ERP 5.2a can be used both as a 'server' and as a 'client'.
· Adapter 2.5 for ERP 6
This product enables the Baan ERP 6 software to communicate with external applications using SSA OpenWorldX. The Adapter for Baan ERP 6 can be used both as a 'server' and as a 'client'.

SSA OpenWorldX Connectors
OpenWorldX Connectors are used to connect to a certain technology, and enables components developed in this technology for integration.
· Connector 2.5 for Java
The OpenWorldX Connector for Java is both a client and a server connector. When this connector acts as a client, an application can call Business Objects in any OpenWorldX enabled product through this connector. When this connector acts as a server, any application can call Java classes exposed by this connector via the OpenWorldX infrastructure.
· Connector 2.5 for .NET
The OpenWorldX Connector for .NET is a server connector. Any application can call .NET objects (DLLs) exposed by this connector via the OpenWorldX infrastructure.
· Connector 2.5 for COM
The OpenWorldX Connector 2.5 for COM is a server connector. Any application can call COM objects (DLLs) exposed by this connector via the OpenWorldX infrastructure.
· Connector 2.5 for XML
Connector for XML is a client connector, which provides dynamic access to the BOIs of OpenWorldX enabled applications using XML technology. It provides a universal technology for situations in which OpenWorldX enabled applications (acting as server applications) are being integrated into a B2B or EAI platform.
· Connector 2.5 for OLE DB
The OpenWorldX Connector for OLE DB is a client connector, which enables Baan IVc and Baan ERP to act as an OLE DB data provider. Via this connector read-only integrations on table level can be performed easily.
· Connector 2.5 for CORBA
The OpenWorldX Connector for CORBA is both a client and server connector, which provides connectivity with IONA's Orbix and Borland's Visibroker. It enables CORBA-based system to integrate with OpenWorldX enabled applications.
· Connector 2.5 for JDBC
Connector for JDBC is a client connector, which provides dynamic access to Baan ERP using standard Java DataBase Connectivity (JDBC) technology. Note that the Connector for JDBC works with Baan ERP version 5.0c or later. An Adapter for ERP needs to be installed on Baan ERP as well.
· Web Services Toolkit 1.0 -Connector for SOAP
The Connector for SOAP is a client connector which provides dynamic access to the BOIs of OpenWorldX enabled applications using standard WebServices technology. It provides a universal technology for situations in which OpenWorldX enabled applications (acting as server applications) are being integrated into a B2B or EAI platform.

SSA OpenWorldX Broker
The OpenWorldX integration platform empowering Application-to-Application integration by providing communication, transformation, mapping, activation, altering and business process execution.
· Broker 3.2
Installs the Broker and Log service, as well as the LogViewer.
· Designer 3.2
Installs the applications to design and maintain the Broker environment, for example, Designer and Administration Console

SSA OpenWorldX Collaboration
The following products are specific to Product Group OpenWorldX Collaboration.
· WebAccess 2.6 Service Pack 1
OpenWorldX Web Access 2.6 application provides Common Services such as, Business Components, Runtime Services, Common Functionality and Tools to all Baan web applications.
· Collaboration 2.4 Service Pack 1
OpenWorldX Collaboration is the document exchange server, it sends and receives business documents to and from partners. Internal and external users of Collaboration interact online to speed up cycle time, improve the accuracy of communication and reduce the overall cost of doing business.

SSA OpenWorldX WebservicesToolkit
The WebServices Toolkit provides both development time as well as runtime tools to build a Baan webservices solution.
· Web Services Toolkit 1.0 -WSDL Generator
The WebServices Toolkit Provides the development and runtime tools to provide webservices capabilities to the OpenWorldX Suite. The WSDL generator tool facilitates the generation of Web service definition language (WSDL) for accessing BOL or BOI as a web service.

SSA OpenWorldX Utilities
Utility products are a prerequisite for other products within this suite.
· SSA License Manager 2.1
The SSA License Manager (SLM, formerly known as BCLM) is the central license manager for all products within this suite.
· ASM 1.1
The Application Service Manager (ASM) is an administrative tool that you can use to start and stop Baan ERP or other applications.

BOI - Business Object Interface : is an object that provides methods and properties which gives client applications read and or write access to Baan (if you accessing Baan, or any other BOI compliant application [i.e. any of the above Connectors which have 'server' capabilities]). Whenever these BOI's update Baan, all of the corresponding business logic is invoked.

Domain Pack - Is a collection of BOI's grouped together by functional area and Baan Version (i.e. IVc4 & Vc and have a minimum service pack requirement)

Hi,

I get a strange error "(ottiexbsi) Object release 7.2, expected 6.1"
installing the adapter (2.6 or 2.7) on Baan IV SP19.

What should resolve this?

where i get the webservice for .net.
