Hi Everyone,

Has anyone installed Webtop?? If yes, does it work OK and would you use it for remote offices??

Is Print Preview available in WebTop??

Lots of questions..... hopefully lots of answers.....

Thanks
Erick

I know of a company that has implemented WebTop as the only interface available to normal users. Actually WebTop 3.0 is better than WebTop 2.0 as it has some extra features.

And yes, Print Preview is available in WebTop.

As far as I know webtop3.0 is not available yet for 5c. We are testing the product for SSA.

Of course the 2.2 version can be used but you need openworld for that. In 3.0 is no longer needed.

There are still things to solve by SSA:
- parallel sessions which are often used in the project module don't work;
- printing on windows doesn't work yet (at least not in our version);

Han

Is Webtop 3 is sotware which have to work with BaaNIV or ssa are preparing something else?

I have to say that we strongly hope that it isn't summer. ssa promised that it will be this quarter.

WebTop 3.0 is actually the version that will be released with BaanERP 6.0 (Gemini). I think the same version will be back ported to work with BaanIV. Lets hope SSA keep their promise

Yes,

Its been confirmed that WebTop 3.0 WILL be released end of March. Hope it works.

BTW It will NOT use OpenWorld and will be compatible with any J2EE standard server.

In our case it didn't works with Oracle iAS out of the box. We received an installation with Apache/Tomcat on Windows2000 which works fine.

Apache/Tomcat, Websphere [Express], Weblogic and ServletExec are supported by SSA.

I am assuming that it is free for the companies who have their support contract with SSA/Baan.

Hi all,

Webtop 3.0 is currently processed by the fulfillment department.
Availability of Webtop 3.0 is currently scheduled for April 15th. Those of you that have access to the Baan intranet can preview Webtop 3.0 via http://ibaanwebtop or http://srv-nld-maan/webtop_gy/defaultlogin.html. Webtop 3.0 is the web-interface for BaanIVc4, Baan5.0c, Baan5.2 and Baan6 (Gemini). Webtop 3.0 has many improvements over its predecessor (Webtop 2.0), i.e. much improved performance, a new skin, improved usability and stability.

Installation must be done once (webserver, NOT the client) and when this is done, Webtop can be accessed by all users via the intranet (no internet support yet, although it is possible).

For the current version it's not necessary to license the product but they have already announced that you have to in the future. If, than it's only a small step to ask money for it.

I have webtop3.0 (build gy) running agains 5.0c and it looks good. However:

3. Known SSA Baan 5.0c Issues

- The following Baan Project sessions are only supported when a specific solution is installed:

tphrs3800m000, tppdm1870m000, tppin0810m000, tppin0820m000, tppin4810m000, tpppc1821m000, tpppc1841m000, tpppc1881m000, tpppc2811m000, tpppc2816m000, tpppc2850m000, tpppc2880m000, tpppc3840m000, tpppc4811m000, tpppc4850m000, tpppc5840m000, tppss6800m000, tppss6805m000, tppss6810m000, tppss6850m000, tpptc0821m000, tpptc0822m000, tpptc1810m000, tpptc1812m000, tpptc1835m000, tpptc2810m000, tpptc2812m000, tpptc3801m000
A solution for this problem will be created after the release of Webtop 3.0.

- When running SSA Baan 5.0c on a Windows server, you will not be able to print to Windows server printers.
A solution for this problem will be created after the release of Webtop 3.0.

4. Known SSA BaanIVc4 Issues
- When running SSA BaanIVc4 on a Windows server, you will not be able to print to Windows server printers.
A solution for this problem will be created after the release of Webtop 3.0.
- Support of Dynamic Enterprise Modeller (DEM) will become available after the release of Webtop 3.0.
- A limited number of sessions (among others: Graphs, ASCII) are not supported in Webtop.

- A limited number of sessions (among others: Graphs, ASCII) are not supported in Webtop.
They have to be "Webtop" enabled. And there is a checklist documentation of the limitations of what can and cannot be webtop-enabled.

Hi NPRao,
do you know where the document is available?
via Baan-Support (Doc-Name or Doc-Number)?

Andreas,

I dont have the document number it was a short document we received from BaaN development as we are were on all the different phases of Reger-5.2 version. According to our version, all the sessions have to be integrated for them to be webtop enabled.

You can contact the BaaN support to get the official document for your BaaN version. We are currently not using Webtop on Reger.

We setup webtop 3 and found the following issues.

It only works with Microsoft JVM and it is unsupported by microsoft and sun jvm is in most of the latest IE on clients.
We cannot remove sun jvm as other applications currently depend on sun jvm.

Some of our front end(client) applications talk to bw dlls on client to load data into sales orders etc. We dont know how we can make webtop to do those functions.

Any suggestions please.

Indeed Webtop 3.0 only uses the Microsoft JVM for now (Microsoft will support its JVM until the end of 2007, at which time we will have removed the dependency of Webtop on the Microsoft JVM). You can remove the SUN VM for just the browser by opening the Control Panel on your computer, opening the Java Plug-in Control Panel, and on the Browser tab you have to deselect Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you use other applications with Internet Explorer that need the SUN VM, you indeed may have a problem.

As far as in house applications are concerned that have to work in Webtop, they require some restrictions in their code constructs. We can provide the service (billable) to make these applications work in Webtop.

hi

just a quik question

to check the function / problems with Web Top we wanted to install web top on a demo baan (B40 c4) server. Is it possible or web top can be installed with only licensed baan server.

Just to avoid running into problems on the LIVE licensed baan servers we wanted to do it.

pls suggest

tks

I think it should be possible to run webtop on a test Baan server. Not that webtop 4.0 has been released and now works with the Sun JVM and both IE & Mozilla Firefox.
