Hi,

We have a baan5b installation on Oracle DB , on Sun OS. Both the Os and the db are japanese. The baan installation is also multibyte.

The question - if we would like to enter some chinese data in the system, is it possible ? We can get a pc with chinese stuff loaded on it, but will the data insertion be proper ?

Any such live systems ??

regards
max

Hi,

Theorotically it is very much possible. The problem comes most of the time for Search Key values for master data (like Search Key-I) which is formed from the description.

e.g. if you maintain the Business Partner with Simplified Chinese, if somebody tries to view the record from Japanese locale, it gives problem on display.

But as such database / OS definately can take this.

I agree with Askajale. The only problems you "should" encounter are the ones that come with running any multi-language environment in Baan.

Of course its always the problems you should not encounter that keep our jobs interesting ;)
