We have just restored Baan/Oracle on to a test box and when we try to start Oracle we get an error saying'unable to connect to shared memory segment. HP UX Error 13 permisssion denied.

We've checked permissions an everything seems ok

Any ideas??

Did you get any corresponding Oracle errors (ORA-xxxx)? Check the permissions on your Oracle executable ($ORACLE_HOME/bin) which should be mode 6751 (sticky-bit!). Also check ownerships of the parents directories maybe.

Did you tweak your kernel?

We have resolved the issue now.

Yes we had tweaked some kernel params.

A reboot of the server cleared our issue.
