We are now running 3 LPAR on AIX 5.3.
One for LIVE, one for TEST & one for DEVT.
All 3 are using a Network License Server.

We want to copy our LIVE $BSE environment into our DEVT.
( does not include the brand file )

If we do this, will it invalidate our license.? With 2 identical $BSE in the same network.
What files ( if any ) should we NOT copy across to keep the license working.

thanks,

Cyril.

copy your $BSE only. do not touch the .brand file

on the 2nd and 3rd servers in $BSE/lib/licence6.X file put the name or ipaddress of server 1 do not start a licd6.x on those boxes.

you should be good to go.

Dave,
Thanks for the reply.

We currently have all the servers in the licence6.1 file

eg:
P550:DEVT:[600]:/usr1/baan4/baan/bse/lib > pg licence6.1
cable4,cable5,cable6

Do we keep them all in the file, or just have the primary server.?

That would be true if you validated your license as a cluster. you'd have a .brand file on each server and validate each server separately.

licmon6.2 -B should give you a different sequence for each server. and you should see each server listed.

If that's the case don't touch the brand's, if you want to copy one $BSE to another server, just do that and leave the original server's root partition alone.
