Hi, we have recently upgraded to oracle 10g and have found (as well as a few performance issues) that when we try to import using exchange we get an disconnection error. funny things is this doesnt happen when there is no one else logged on the server, only during normal work times.

see attached for error detail

Baan 5c
Porting set is 7.1d.12a
GUI is 7.1d.15.168
oracle 10g

Thanks for any help

Update - we kinda now now what the problem is and it seems that the exchange issue is a symptom of a bigger problem. we create a temp table using our 'bsp' user and when we try to create the physical table we get thrown out of baan with the same database server disconnection error. Looks like our bsp user doesnt have authorisation to create tables (and temp tables for exchange).

any ideas how we allow this authorisation, we have just upgraded to oracle 10g

Thanks

Dear davismit,

ist dba_users on oracle level or on OS (Unix) level (= /etc/group).

We had permission problems (as workaround) we had to add the os user to the group dba.

Can you add a table on oracle level with oracle user bsp e.g. with sqlplus.

Kozure

Hi, Yes we can create tables at oracle level. can you explain further waht you did on your work around. Im starting to think this may be an issue with Shared memory

Dear davismit,

just add the user bsp on unix level to the group dba.

command: groupadd ... OR usermod -G ...

or manually edit the file /etc/group and add the user "bsp" in the "dba" line:

Example:

dba:*:601:bsp,oracle,root

Hi we still get the error. Would we need to restart oracle or reboot the box for this to be picke up.

Does anyone know what it means??

looks like your driver is crashing while creating a table.

I know i've seen it before, but it's been a while.

Could be your porting set version.
Could be the $ORACLE_HOME permissions not being opened enough.
or it could be ulimits on the box.

Actually, i made a re installation of oracle, before i didnt have this problem, i could make exchenge without problem, but after the reinstallation i get this error, if i connect via sqlplus with the same oracle user as baan, this can create, insert, etc on the data base but, the only problem its at the time of an Exchange import.
The portingset its the same than before the reinstallation
$ ora8_srv6.2 -v
-------------------------------------------------------
Portingset : 7.1d.10
Port no. : PA.2791
Date : Tue Jul 5 13:22:03 DFT 2005
Uname : AIX orion 1 5 000B0E68A400
Machine-id : IBM_RS6000
OS-release : AIX5.1

You say, check the $ORACLE_HOME, but i have a doubt which folder need to have permissions ???
And the ulimits ?? for the bsp user???
$ ulimit -a
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) 16777208
data(kbytes) unlimited
stack(kbytes) 4194304
memory(kbytes) 32768
coredump(blocks) unlimited
nofiles(descriptors) 2000

I hope you can remember how to solve this, thanks

Look on metalink for Oracle 9i permissions. I think they deliver a script that fixes them (So you don't have to) you might actually find some discussion about it on baanboard too.

If you re-installed oracle and that's all that's changed, then it's a decent guess that - that is your problem.

Hi, i finally solve this problem, its an oracle permission, you have to change at OS level the permissions to the lib and lib32 directories on $ORACLE_HOME

chmod o+xr ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib/*
chmod o+xr ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib32/*

Restart oracle and baan and that´s all.

Hope this work, if someone have the same problem, to execute exchanges, create o drop tables from baan to oracle.
