The details of the licensing key is naturally secret and a mythos. But in general on Unix platforms it seems to be the ID of the first proccessor and on WinTel platforms it seems to be the Mac adress of the first network card.

So changing the Motherboard (sounds like Wintel to me) should only effect your licensing, if your network is integrated on it.

But do not take my work on this on a life system. Better test it!
