hi all,
I'm disperate!!!! My server is very very slow and I don't know how to solve it. The server is a dual Xeon 2.4 Ghz with 4Gb ram, controller RAID SCSI320. The s.o is Win2000 std and the db is SQL2000 std. The baan db is about 20Gb and growes up 40Mb every day.
I'm using baan IVc4 and DB SQLSERVER on the same server (2-tier) for 40 seat. I should change the server because it's too small (very bad performace and not so much free space).

I would ask you if you think that a separete DB server can improve performace (3-tier): one server as application sever with Baan IVc4 (very customizated) and a new one with only SQLSEVER 2000 or 2005.
The reseller sugests me to buy also a Fiber channel external sotrage, to improve disk's performace; it's a good idea but expensive; what do you think about?
64 bit achitecture of WIn2003 and Sql2005 should give me great advantage?

Thaks in advance
