After installing Oracle 9.2.0.7 we could not connect to Oracle from BaaN IV anymore! ORA-6413 COnnection not open appeared.
This seems to be the same problem as in Oracle 9.2.0.6.
So the bug is still not solved...
If You change the BaaN Oracle driver from pipes to sockets protocol it does work again. But I don't know if this is bad for the performance...?
Who knows?

If you run one one of the latest and greatest portingsets I advise to run $BSE/bin/ora_update.
Hopefully this helps,

I have BaanIVc4 (AIX 4.3) with some tables in Oracle 7.
I go to upgrade the system (pSeries IBM p520 2 processors in AIX 5.3)
1.Question - what the best Oracle version for Baan? (9i or 10 or...)
2.Question - is preferible the Enterprise version or the standard version is sufficient?
3 Question - They are good alternatives for OracleBD in AIX for Baan?

Oracle 9i is a little more mature than 10g. Also keep in mind
that 10g is really 10.1 (with 10.2 support coming soon) 9.1 was very buggy
as i suspect 10.1 is as well..
Enterprise vs Standard has been discussed many times on the board - do a search..
IBM makes Informix and DB2 for AIX, either are fine options with Baan.. however I like DB2. It's smaller, faster and cheaper.

Benchmarks showed hardly difference between these 2. In the past there was a bigger difference between these. Now this gap has become much smaller. In some cases hardly noticable.
Kind regards,

Making hot backups is also possible in the standard edition.
