We are currently still using Tbase as the "DB-System" for our Baan installation and are considering migrating to Oracle.

Given also the price difference, my question is if Oracle Standard Edition would be enough or if Oracle Enterprise Edition is more suitable ?

Some info on our installation:
- 88 user license Baan IVc4
- running on AIX
- only internal access (mix of bw & ba), no access via Internet
- Export of data to other systems handled via BizTalk
- database size (production & archive) around 30 GB
- multi-finantial / multi-logistic setup

Baan uses nothing in Enterprise Edition. So Standard Edition is a great choice for people with only 2 CPUs.

There are RMAN limitations in the Standard Edition, so if you intend to use RMAN to backup the Oracle Database then first check to see whether this lesser version will impede your backup ideas.

Just for baan the standard edition will do. I have noticed that e.g. in the enterprise version it's possible to copy tablespaces. So it depends if you need functionality like this.
