Hi, baanboard,
Does Data Reorganization using BaaN Tool helps physically release space for INFBK file after data archiving has done with purging some old data?
Besides reorganizing indexes of tables, data reorganization should release some space, does it in reality? Is there any white paper released by BaaN for that matter?

Sincerely,

Michail

If by "Baan tools" you mean the "Reorg Session" in Baan, then the results will be minimal. The reason is simply, that this is done table by table. So a fragmented database often stays fragmented.

If by "Baan tools" you mean "create sequential dump" or bdbpre/bdbpost, then whis will normally help defragmentation. But then you might as well use Informix Tools. The results will be the same or better and should be faster.

I have to admit, that I am talking a bit theoretically here, as I am more of a Oracle person. Maybe somebody else here oon the board can give you some practical experience,

regards

Markus
