HP Ux 11.0

Hello,

I have setup a printer in Unix pointing to a remote Windows 2000 machine. I have shared a virtual printer on the Windows m/c.

When i "lpstat <printer name>" in Unix, it says "connection to <Windows m/c name> is down", although the Windows m/c can be pinged from my Unix server.

Can anyone tell me how i can solve the problem?

Thanks,
Sasha

It all depends on how you setup your printer. Windows printers should be setup as remote queues (in the Windows server) if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Victor,

Thanks for your reply.

I am trying to use a Windows 2000 workstation and not a server. Now, maybe this connectivity works only on servers, i am not sure. However, i tried to check all the services that are available for accepting Unix print requests on the workstation. They are all up and running.

I will try to find out more about this.

Thanks.
Sasha
