we have some good experience with Oracle 9i and Baan IVc4 as well as ERP 5.0c using actual portingsets. You use the Oracle8-driver. There will be no separate oracle9-driver in the future but an oracle8-driver, which enables some Oracle9 features, when it connects to a 9i database.

Baan has not yet released DB drivers for Oracle 8i or 9i yet. However, customers are using Oracle 8 drivers for Oracle 8i installations. I did a good amount of testing for Baan IVc4 and Baan 5.0c with Oracle 9i using Oracle 8 driver and the latest porting sets. It looks like, Baan is behaving better with Oracle 9i than Oracle 8i. But I have a very controlled environment. I will be soon testing this (Oracle 8 driver with Oracle 9i DB) on a customer site with about 300 G DB on a Unix environment. As soon as I am done, I will post the results.

On request Baan Germany told me that it is possible to run Oracle up to 11.11 (11i) with the latest porting set. It is no official for the moment but the internal test were positive.

Hello,
There is no Oracle version 11.11 (11i). I think you are talking about Oracle Financials (another ERP from Oracle Corp.). The latest Oracle Database version is 9i (9.0.1). In the recent porting set for Baan IVc4, Baan has released the DB driver compiled against Oracle 8.1.7 for Digital UX (Tru64) platform only. For all other platforms Oracle DB driver is compiled against Oracle 8.0.6 only.

I think Phoenix was referring to the OS: HP-UX

Even on HP-UX there is no Oracle database version 11.11 (11i). The latest Oracle database version is 9i

We are using 8.1.7 against ps 7.1c.02 on Solaris 2.6 and baan 5.0b successfully.
