We currently have a baan server with RAID5, for some security reason, the management want to add up a HOT spare harddisc whose specification is same to the ones made up with RAID5.

My question is, need this condition be revalidated? Because revalidation need some time and the environment is live run, therefore, whether it need be revalidated or not determines my preparation schedule.

Any experience or advice will be appreciated.

Thank you.

If the rootdisk is not replaced, no re-validation is needed.

Kind regards,
Dick

I am pretty sure NT environment validates against the Network adapter only anyway - the disk specification is not used.

As far as I know the MAC-Address of the Network adapter is the only thing that is important for validationen withing NT.

EdHubbard and malutz are both correct about validation going against the MAC address of the NIC on a Windows server. As long as the NIC remains the same, no revalidation will be required.

You will merely need to run Validate Tools Set (ttiex320m000) to recreate the baan.6.x.lic file in the event that you swap in the hot discs. Once that is done, you will be able to start the license service.
