just read the question about sql7 to sql2000 upgrades and it mentions the performance problem associated with SP3, recommending moving to SP3a.

I have a SQL2000 server running on Windows2000 server under BaanIVc4 without SQL service packs, can anyone recommend whether I should load any service packs - or just leave it as it is?

thanks - Andy

For security reasons, you are advised by Microsoft to load service packs (there are many documented security holes in the core product).

However, do not load SP3 - load SP3a as otherwise you will get serious Baan performance problems.

We have loaded SQL Server 2000 SP3a and it works ok for us.
