Hi.

Environment is BIVc4/SQL7.0
Had some hardware problems and had to restore baan from backup. Also lost the registry...

We reinstalled SQL and can access baan tables...
Restored Baan. Renamed the BSE directory.

Installed FAT client to rebuild the registry.

Now we are stuck with:

error 511 - Version of client versus server not correct on ttadv002000 in db_first

In event viewer, one of the messages is:

Env BSE (E:\Baan)
Prog msql_srv file \db\lib\dbs\dbs_server.c # 4336
Keyword version
Username baan type S language P
Process 0xc6
Lasterror 0
Errno 0
bdberrno 0
Message Different versions of client (156) and server (16/28)

What client are we talking about? BW? But the BW client is the same as before the crash...

Please help
Thanks

Does the restored backup have the same porting set as before the crash? Also, the installation of a fat client might not have all the registry entries required by an actual server. (Not sure about that...)

Do you have a spare machine where you can do a complete new installation of DB and Baan? Would make things a little easier I suppose!

Perhaps you're right.

Anyway, I tried ntbshell.exe 6.1c.05.02 and the error does not appear. You think there can be a problem in using this exe instead of 6.1c.06.02?

Thanks
Fred

Could be that a couple of old bugs reappear. But since you have it working, you can now at leisure update the portingset again...

Hi.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

You should be right but, the problem still exists if you upgrade the portingset (to any portingset).

It must be some mess with the registry. I'll try and get a net server to do a fresh install and restore the environment cleanly.

In the meantime...we'll work like this. It seems OK.

Thanks
Fred
