Hi

Trying to install BIVc4 from scratch with the latest Master CD.

Using the U7051H US manual, which includes a section concerning installation of Oracle 9i.

Well, right at the start of the installation itself, it stops with the error:

unable to start d:\oracle\oracle92\bin svrmgrl.exe
@c:\winnt\tmp\_istmp0.dir\createdb.sql

Of course...svrmgrl does not exist in 9i.
But the manual says you can install 9i directly...How can this be?

Thanks
Fred

Maybe you should try to create the DB manually and then install Baan. But then you might run into Problems, when it tries to create the users and role. Still worth a try.

I am on W2k, not unix
Thanks for your prompt reply.

The problem here is that I am working on a w2k environment.
On Unix, to install BaanIV with Oracle, you first create the DB and only after link Baan to Oracle.

On windows, I always let the installation wizard create the DB for me. The problem is that there are no instructions on how to do a "manual" installation of Oracle on W2k.

I already tried it once some time ago and the could not connect to the Oracle instance (tabledef6.1 problems).

So...should I install 8.1.7 and then migrate to 9i ?
Why does it exist a Baan manual where it says you can install directly Oracle 9i?

Thanks
Fred

Also on Win2k you should be able to create the DB yourself and install into it. As far as I remember, the setup actually scans for existing databases and offers a choice.

Anyway. On Windows I normally install Baan by using SQL Server (which is very smooth and trouble free), then I configure Baan up to Service Packs and Portingsets and then I dump company 000 and load it into Oracle.

Easiest way for me.

Shame on me.

What about tabledef6.1 and user creation?

That could perhaps be done if I had an Idea of the parameters that are going to be put in tabledef6.1. Could you post an example?

Then I could try to use the unix installation manual to create the instance manually...

Thanks
