We have created a customized item within a project (PCS) which is copied from a standard item. We cannot define sales unit for a customised item. The conversion factor between inventory unit and sales unit for the customized item will be the same as that of standard item if it is copied from the standard item, otherwise conversion factor cannot be defined for customised item.

We need a different conversion factor (Inventory Unit to Sales Unit) for the customised item. This item is sold in pieces of different dimensions based on customer requirement/drawing, but the selling price is fixed per square meters. How do we achieve this?

The only option I see is to set the inventory unit to the sales unit. In order to do this you must first clear the field Origin Standard Item on form one to blank. After this you can change the inventory unit. When doing this you may also need to change the purchase units or provide a conversion factor for these. Don't know if this will work for you but may be worth thinking about.
